Throughout history, many social groups have had to face a lot of different injustice issues. The social group that I will be discussing is women. The main issue that I will be talking about is happening recently and it is the law that will make abortions illegal in a great number of states in the south. In this essay I will identify the people that are being most affected in this new law proposal, the diversity in stories on why banning the abortion is unfair and lastly the unfair justice that has taken place.
On all the recent stories about the law of banning abortion, you can just see how much of society still thinks they own the right of women’s bodies and not women themselves. Being a part of this social group and having to experience 25 white men deciding what women are and aren’t allowed to do with their own bodies really shows how much we as women are constantly having our rights and overall respect taken away from us. Other words that women as a society would call themselves are feminists and social activists due to the fact that we speak out about equality of women and the injustice of women especially when it comes to not just men, but for anyone who thinks they have a right to decide what our bodies are and aren’t allowed to do. All though I do not live in Alabama this affects me in a big way because my fellow social group is having their rights over their own bodies taken away.
Each of these women have their own story about why abortions were a decision for them or why they should have a right to abortions. For example, Michelle Alexander was in college when her rapist ended up getting her pregnant she knew that she couldn't bring the child of the rapist into the world that it would be too painful and awful. So she ended up getting an abortion even after her rapist apologized. There are way more stories like this and other stories that are just as important. I would say the success that women have so far in this battle with lawmakers is getting attention from the media and the government and speaking out to them saying this isn’t right we need to a whole stand up and stop this from going any further. The challenges we are facing are obviously trying to get these 25 white men to erase this bill and trying to get them to not pass it. They can’t seem to put their own opinions or perspectives away and open up to see what some of these women have or are going through and how much the law they’re trying to pass will cause a negative difference.
Some challenges that women have to go through is making the decision to get an abortion and then to have people who might disagree who aren’t Pro-Choice judge women and verbally attack them over something that is not their choice or any of their business. People who also come from a religiously conservative background might not understand women's stories. These individuals should put their opinions aside for a little bit and just listen to all the stories that women have to tell on why the right to abortions are important to them. Why these women decided to get one. That they only listen to one side of the story. There only here to tear down men and make them look like they are the monsters. It affects women because not all of us think like that and our like that. We aren’t standing for women being over men were here to make sure that men and women are both being treated fairly.
In this editorial I identified the people that are being most affected in this new law proposal, the diversity in stories on why banning the abortion is unfair and lastly the unfair justice that has taken place. I went over how women in these states are being most affected by this law. How many women have come out with each their own stories on having the right to abortion is important. How overall the injustice with abortion has affected women. I feel as a community we need to start speaking out more and standing up for these women in these states. I as a person can take action through social media and go to rally’s to help stand up for this important cause.
