The social group collection that I chose is Women. I chose this social group because lately women have been treated as if they don’t have a voice, I mean it’s always happened but recently it’s been getting worse and more unfair. I want to learn about this social group because I want to be able to help bring more awareness to the difficulties we have to face. I’ve become annoyed with the fact that this is still going on and that not many people care about our situation either. It’s time for us young adult women to speak up as well, we cannot be scared of our voices not being heard. I chose his group because women are still being harassed, they are seen as inferior and are still being stereotyped as weak. 
The stories that I’ve read about this social group show trials such as sexual harassment, rape, and when they are given stereotypes. These trials show how women aren’t given any respect which has led them to get pushed down mainly for their gender. Since women’s confidence is put down, it leads people into thinking they could easily take advantage of them when that shouldn’t be the issue at all. The experiences that I share with individuals in this social group is all the stereotypes given. This experience is similar to my experience because since I’m a girl people decide to use that against me just to have their way. That’s exactly what’s happening to women today and it isn’t right that we get to be harassed by people who think it’s okay just because we’re WOMEN.
The individuals in this social group are different from one another because of their backgrounds. An example of this is that some women have been taught growing up that their voices don’t matter and that abuse is just a way of love. Successes that the group has faced has been when women who had been taught their voices don’t matter actually find that voice that has been hidden for so long. Challenges that the group has faced is patriarchy. No matter the abilities or the experiences women are still considered less qualified than men. There are certain perspectives that I didn’t read that I wish I did because I do want to know about how different women have been feeling lately and what trials they have been going through.
The challenges that individuals in this group face that other people outside the group might not understand are with patriarchy and sexual harassment. I think that others can do the following to understand this social group: maybe speak up about what women go through more. I’ve only seen women talking about these issues and I really just want men to see how big of a deal this is. The #MeToo movement should be seen more often, talk more about this! Assumptions that people might make about people who identify within this social group could be that women are weak and. Stereotypes can negatively affect individuals who identify within this group because a bunch of those stereotypes can be really sensitive and awfully offensive. Stereotyping is wrong because you’re usually giving out insensitive and offensive assumptions based off one aspect.
Communities should start speaking up about women’s issues to help individuals within this social group. This will help the social group because people with more power, like the president, will start to hear the complaints and could possibly even do something about what’s been going on. What I can do in particular to help this social group is hopefully grab more of your attention with this essay. I’ve also been wanting to get more involved in marches for women so I can get a gist of how other people feel towards this social group. I honestly just want people more involved in helping women find their voices and to make sure we aren’t put down any more.
