Social groups, a group of whom we identify with. A social group can say a lot about who you are, your personality, your life. It can also impact the way other people than yourself see you. A social group can add stereotypes to your person in a good and bad way. This is why it is important that we understand everyone of them the way they want to be seen, not how a biased or harsh person would see them. The LGBTQ+ group is part of this. As a community we need to identify groups correctly, understand how diverse a group can be, and bring them justice if they have been done wrong and stereotyped in a bad way.

The way the LGBTQ+ community is being identified is very important. From the articles I have read(ALL, CNN), the news, and things I have witnessed in life, I learned that the LGBTQ+ community has had a very rough time fitting in. Before the 80’s a lot of people that were “normal” didn’t nor did the want, to identify or even be included with gay people. Luckily, even though I identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, I have never been discriminated against because of it. To thank, I have all the previous people of this community that went through so much to get us rights and equality.

Each individual in this group is different from each other either by the way they personally identify or how society identities them on how they identify. Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Trans people are most commonly talked about or addressed when people talk about the LGBTQ+ community, because they are the abbreviation so they are the main 4 core. But that doesn’t mean that the other identities are less specially and we need to remember that. Even though on the news and social media we really only hear about the bad things that are happening to this group there are also many success that have happened for them. A success for this group is that in an article I read, I was informed that in 2012 after a few year of trying to make it happen, the inclusion of LGBT people in textbooks was put in place (Newsela). Now kids that are as young as 2nd graders are learning about same sex couple and marriage. I really like this because it is teacher kids that it is okay to be different and to accept everyone for who they are, not what other people want them to be. A challenge this group has faced is discrimination at school and school events, more specifically prom. Many Transgender people want to be ‘normal’ and enjoy prom but some schools aren’t making that's possible. In an article by The CBS News, it states that a transgender female that now identifies as male was nominated for prom king but because he wasn’t born a man, he cannot be prom king. He has now started a petition for this rule to be changed so by the end of it, it might end up being a win. I feel that really everyone's perspective in this group is being respected and seen even though some are a bit less represented.

The LGBT social group has faced a lot of challenges throughout the years like social injustice and discrimination. Us, as a community, need to fix this. I honestly don't see any point to the way the world has been treating the people of the LGBT community. They are people just like us but the only difference is preference. Let's put it like this, let's say that you like pancakes but a lot of other people like waffles and you are being discriminated because of this. No more rights, inequality, discrimination just because of one little difference you have from everyone else. It is stupid right? Now just imagine this happening just because of a little thing like that but for decades. The people of the LGBTQ+ community deserve the same rights everyone else has.
In conclusion the LGBTQ+ community has been through a lot and we need to change that. As a community we need to identify groups correctly, understand how diverse a group can be, and bring them justice if they have been done wrong and stereotyped in a bad way. The LGBTQ+ community has had a very tough time fitting in the past but we are finally making a change. There are many little subsections in this specific community and they have had many wins and loses but it’s okay. The LGBT community needs justice and equality. A social group can say a lot about who you are and it can also impact the way other people than yourself see you, this is why it is important that we understand everyone of them the way they want to be seen.
