Latino/a

I decided to pick the social group I did for many reasons but one being because we partake in what is referred to as a minority. I also am part of this group since I am part Mexican and Puerto Rican so I feel like I can relate to this group  while in the same way there is always room for new information. Being a minority in America can be very hard because most of Latino-Americans have to get help from the government and live n a low income and it may be not because they are lazy and not capable it may be because they do not have the resources that they need in order to achieve this. Hispanic individuals are the largest group in the US.

Living as a minority in America can be hard and I know that from experience, I have had to get through many things in my life living the “Hood” but we learn from it and that is what builds our character when we become adults. It is easier for a person to get a job if they are not considered a minority and I am not saying that this happens all the time but it definitely does happen and that is why many people who pertain in the minority get discouraged and stop trying to be someone successful and that may be why most people who live in places considered bad are of the minority group.

Latino’s who have made it out the “Hood” are either of families who are wealthy or they had to work extremely hard in life to get to where they are. It has become increasingly harder for people of Latino heritage to get a good job we sometimes have to take the harder jobs because majorities won’t take them. We have to work with our hands instead of our head. Older people belonging to the Latino community have not finished their education.

As a minority you are always being judged by your cover and you never have the opportunity to show people who you really are. People often look at you weird when you go to a place where you are not seen. For example if you live in the “Hood” and you go to for example Point Loma and you are walking around the block people may look at you weird and judge you from the outside and automatically assume this and that. We really got to change this and I think the way is be educated and not prejustify people for what they look like but for what they act like you do not know how they have lived or if they have struggled so why even look at people wrong.
