Immigrants are people who come to live permanently to a place specifically from foreign countries. I choose immigrants as my social group topic. Many immigrants face the fear of deportation and being separated from their families, immigrants also work low paying jobs and under poor conditions like construction or working in the fields. Aside from immigrants working and being very vulnerable most of them share a common story or motive on why they left their place of birth, and there's diversity amongst the immigrant population, many solutions exist to help immigrants.
Most of the immigrants share a common story which would be that they are fleeing their countries from violence between drug cartels or never ending wars against a corrupt government, others flee from drugs being smuggled through their country others simply are looking for job opportunities that are very limited in their country. According to https://newsela.com/read/deported there are some people who come to have a better education and pursue a dream but due to immigration laws they are forced to leave or often times stop there education because they don't have opportunities due to them being illegal immigrants Immigrants may often describe themselves as hard working people who are in a certain country to work and give their families a better life then their previous one. Some experiences I share with this social group is some of my family in previous generations were immigrants who left mexico and came to the united states and worked in the fields with very low wages just like many other immigrant families do too.
Immigrants in america come from many parts of the world. According to migrationpolicy.org mexicans account for 25 percent of america’s immigrant population making them the largest immigrants followed by indians and chinese being the 2 second largest immigrant population in the united states. Many challenges immigrants face is coming to a completely new country with a new language they don’t know and in a way being forced to start from 0 and learn a new language. Many immigrants share different experiences and come from different origins too, so this means their motives for migrating can be different. Many missing preservatives that are often missing is the children’s perspective because they are often brought along with their parents and have to suffer through many thing that are never told.
There are many challenges to being an immigrant that many people often times do not see or understand. For example many immigrants face low paying jobs in harsh conditions other are afraid of getting deported and not seeing their families again. I think something other people can do to understand the challenges immigrants face is too put into perspective if that was them, to fully understand someone or something you have to know what they have been through good and bad and most people don't know the good and bad of living the life of an immigrant, and if there is something people could do to better understand immigrants is to understand what they have been through and why the have to leave their countries and the challenges they faced getting to a new country and starting from zero. Many assumptions that people often make about immigrants is that they are illegal and that all immigrants are criminals. Most of the bad assumption and stereotypes that are made about immigrants affects them mot of the time in a bad way because the are categorized as illegals and criminals and that’s how they become known.
Immigrants are very vulnerable most of them share a common story or motive on why they left their place of birth, and there's diversity amongst the immigrant population, many solutions exist to help immigrants. Most of the immigrants share a common story which would be that they are fleeing their countries from violence between drug cartels or never ending wars against a corrupt government. Many immigrants share different experiences and come from different origins too, so this means their motives for migrating can be different. There are many challenges to being an immigrant that many people often times do not see or understand. Immigrants are most of the time misunderstood and badly stereotyped and people need to start better understanding them.
