The social group collection that I chose is LGBTQ+. I chose this social group because I know many people who are in this group. I want to learn about this social group because I wish to support them.
Successes that the group has faced has been people legalized gay marriage in the US and California approved LGBT history lessons in classrooms. Challenges that the group has faced is constant discrimination and teens, kids, and young adults getting abused  and ostracized for being LGBTQ+.

 Assumptions that people might make about people who identify within this social group i've heard are ‘’gay is a disease’’ or people fearing them for being different- going so far as they ‘’are satan worshippers’’. Stereotypes can negatively affect individuals who identify within this group because they think it's wrong to be LGBTQ+. Stereotyping is wrong because it gives you only one perspective and leaves out so much good (and sometimes bad) that can really twist your reality into something simply incorrect.
Communities can come out as a supporter to help individuals within this social group. This will help the social group because this will create a safe space for LGBTQ+ individuals . What I can do in particular to help this social group is spread info about the LGBTQ+ community and support them- encouraging other people to do so as well and to rid the fear of LGBTQ+.
