Individuals with Disabilities

Have you talked to an individual with disabilities? I would never hope that someone had any disabilities because they are hard to live with. Some can hear what you are saying but can’t talk and tell you stuff back. They start their life in a difficult situation and it is hard to live in that kind of life. So many different horrible disabilities people have to live with.

There are many different disabilities people have ranging from autism to having no legs. There are not a lot of people that are able to success with these disabilities but, when they do it is very unique especially when a teenager with no legs went 37-0 in wrestling. https://newsela.com/read/teenage-wrestler/id/15187/ is a article all about this teen and his success in wrestling with no legs. The things people are missing is that people’s lives get ruined by situations like this and they can’t do anything about it. They don’t chose this life.

These people can’t talk, they can’t defend themselves, they can’t say they are hungry, and they can’t express themselves at all. People need to understand how hard it is for people with disabilities. I think what people can do is talk to individuals with disabilities to get to know what they have to live with. At our school we have a ton of kids with disabilities that I see a couple days a week and I strive for these kids because it isn’t fair. We need to show these kids more attention because just saying hi for 5 minutes a day makes their day. Things like this (https://newsela.com/read/football-player-lunch-buddy/id/21322/) make their day sometimes even their whole year.

People always assume that these individuals don’t like to do things that others do for instance baseball/tee ball or even basketball. The truth is that isn’t true. Stories like this (https://newsela.com/read/rosie-tball-disability/id/22520/) make people’s days. This shows that kids with disabilities wish they could do normal stuff. Stereotypes really bring this group down because it brings negative looks at them. Some stereotypes made our these people are dumb and have no IQ. That isn’t true it is just they learn slower than others and it is harder for them to learn than it is for you.

In conclusion I think people need to spend more time with kids with disabilities so they get the same fun life as us. I think they get treated differently because of their disability and I don’t think that is fair. What can you do? You may ask yourself. Well, you can go visit kids with disabilities and say nice to meet you and try to make their day. You will learn how hard it is for them. What can I do? Well, I am gonna spend more time with kids with different disabilities and bring friends each time to make that persons day and spread the work. In conclusion people with disabilities need to have the same treatment we get and should be visited more.
