Immigrants

People all around the world are immigrating to different places and many of them got there different ways and many of them are there for different reasons. People leave their home country to immigrate into other countries to escape the gang violence, to get out of poverty, to help support their family with money, and to get an education. Also when they get to the place they wanted to go to it is tough for them to find any jobs at all without discrimination. Also if they do find a job they don’t have anywhere to live so most of them are homeless.

Those stories showed how bad it can get at times with being apart of the immigrant social group. For example in the article “Living in a homeland she barely knows after returning to Mexico”(Hyperlinked just click on the title) By: McClatchy Ali had to return to Mexico City since she went into the country illegally on an overstayed tourist visa. If she had just waited two years for the DREAM act to pass she could’ve stayed in the United States but she decided to leave. She is still considering going in the United States illegally but it is only a last resort option. The individuals might say that they are daring to go into a prosperous country illegally, many might say that they are also determined since they just want a better life for them and their families. Courageous since they left their family behind to pursue a better life. I don’t share any experiences with immigrants so I can’t relate to them. The only thing that I can kind of relate with mexican immigrants is that I speak spanish that is the only thing that I can relate to.

People in the immigrant social group can be different from each other since people can be different ethnicities and can be moving into the country for a whole different reason than someone else. Many immigrants succeed in getting a minimum wage job. Also in providing money for their families back home. Challenges that they face are finding someone that can rent them a place to live and the language barrier also is a challenge for them since for many of them they don’t speak the native language in that country. The prospectives that are missing are perspectives of the kids, since many families just send their kids to move to a different country or to have them live with a relative in that different country. I think that it can be mentally challenging for a kid to be by themselves alone in a unknown country and are unable to get a job and are unable to communicate with many people since they might not know the native language.

Born in the U.S.A. and working in the fields — what gives? Some challenges that can affect immigrants are, a language barrier, trouble finding a stable job, a finding a place to live when going to a new country. Some people might have a hard time understanding that because they might speak the native language and have a good job and a roof over their head. What people can do to help understand their challenges is to go to a different country with little to no money and try to make a living. They can also go a school and try to learn a new language and see how tough it is. Some assumptions that people might make about immigrants are, that they are only of mexican descent and that they are bad people. Also that they take people's jobs. Stereotypes might negatively affect immigrants because people won’t want to hire an immigrant and if they are buying a house, the owners might not want to sell it to them since they are immigrants.

In conclusion people all around the world are immigrating to different places and many of them got there different ways and many of them are there for different reasons. Many people like Alejandra Pinzon overstayed a visa a paid the ultimate price. She had been deported but just before she had finished high school. Two years later they passed a law that prohibited the deportation of immigrants who had passed high school. People also go to the United States for better lives and to escape their countries poverty. Many of the immigrants that come in are children and don’t know what to do once they reach their destination and are in worse condition than once they got into the U.S.
